Behind the Action of the One Word Project
For the One Word Editing project, the objective to produce a short film showing a visual representation of one word with no sound. The goal was to create a story that is realistic and could happen within the time limit of 60-90 seconds, while being forced to film only inside the territory of the school. My group was tasked with the word "Bored" and me and my partner simply began brainstorming on how we could represent our word with no sound and with camera shots.
In brainstorming, we were working on the ways to be able to make boredom relevant. We imaged a student walking to school in a sluggish manner with his hands in his pockets, bored in school, falling asleep in the classroom, ignoring the teacher, and showing no response at all to getting a detention slip (nonchalant) These ideas were included in the One Word Film brainstorming sheet that we completed allowing us to structure our ideas and start planning our shots. We made a 15–16 slide storyboard to plan our scenes. It helped us picture the pacing, camera angles, and transitions, and served as our guide during filming.
The second step was to make a storyboard consisting of 15-16 slides to plan the sequence of scenes. To edit it, I used Clipchamp to assemble the footage. I used a grayscale style filter to enrich the dull and dead mood of the film. I also applied fades and cuts as also speed the video to shorten the video length. Adobe Premiere Pro or Express were suggested, but I went with Clipchamp because I knew the editing software, and I could get the impression I wanted with it.
